Naturally Sweetened Gingerbread Latte

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brewed coffee or 1-2 shots of espresso
  • 1 cup milk your choice: dairy, almond, oat, or coconut milk work beautifully
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey for a slightly different sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon molasses unsulfured molasses is best for flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream optional, for topping
  • A sprinkle of cinnamon for garnish

Instructions

  • Brew Your Coffee or Espresso Start by preparing your coffee or espresso and setting it aside. If you prefer a stronger coffee flavor, opt for espresso or use a dark roast coffee.
  • Warm the Milk In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it’s steaming but not boiling.
  • Add Sweeteners and Spices Whisk in the maple syrup, molasses, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Stir until everything is well combined and the mixture is fragrant.
  • Combine with Coffee Pour the brewed coffee or espresso into the milk mixture. Stir in the vanilla extract and let it heat for an additional minute.
  • Froth for Foam (Optional) If you love a latte with a bit of frothy foam, use a handheld milk frother or whisk the mixture vigorously until you get a light foam on top.
  • Serve and Enjoy Pour your gingerbread latte into a mug, top with whipped cream (if desired), and sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon for a festive finish.
